Nathan Philips Thursday
Posted in Thursdays | 1 Comment »This past thursday November 29th the Garden Collective had the pleasure of hosting our Scientist in Residence. Nathan Philips, a sustainability enthusiast discussed with us all the possiblities available to us in the fens. The invasive species, phragmitees is a perfectly adequate source that could be taken advantage of for valued crafts and uses. His talk opened up a new view of sustainability, making use of the neglected into something massive and valued.

What an inspiring and enlightening session! Hosting Nathan Philips must have been a fantastic opportunity to rethink sustainability in a truly hands-on, local context. The idea of transforming an invasive species like phragmites into valuable crafts is a powerful lesson in resourcefulness—seeing “problems” as potential materials. It sounds like his talk didn’t just share knowledge but shifted perspectives, turning what’s overlooked in the Fens into a source of creativity and community value. These are exactly the conversations that help a garden collective grow beyond planting and into deeper ecological thinking. Kudos on a meaningful event! أرخص حجز طيران
