MFA WALKTHROUGHS
A long-standing MassArt tradition, Walkthroughs for full-residency MFA candidates in Fine Arts happen in the fall and spring semesters, introducing new MFA students to cross-departmental critique and building connections across disciplines, and preparing thesis-year students to present their culminating work.
FALL WALKTHROUGHS are formal group reviews of work-in-progress from grad students in the final year of their fine arts MFA programs. Graduate faculty offer critical feedback on thesis work-in-progress. The Walkthroughs are also an opportunity for thesis-year MFA students to connect with other grads from across disciplines, as well as faculty from programs and departments outside of their own.
SPRING WALKTHROUGHS are a way for first-year MFA students to make 1:1 connections with and receive feedback from faculty they may not otherwise have an opportunity to work with. Spring Walkthroughs involve 30-minute one-on-one studio visits. These are informal sessions, and are not tied to assessment in any way. Work students share at Spring Walkthroughs does not need to be finished or polished; this is an opportunity to make connections, build community, and work through ideas.
