FOR FACULTY
GETTING STARTEDDGCE CONTRACT
Graduate adjunct faculty are hired according to the MSCA DGCE bargaining agreement, or contract, available on the MSCA website. The current agreement is the 2021-2023 DGCE Collective Bargaining Agreement. This bargaining agreement determines the minimum rate of pay for part-time faculty.
FACULTY COURSE CONTRACT
Graduate Office staff prepare teaching contracts and email them to faculty prior to the start of the term from our gradprogram@massart.edu email. Faculty sign the contract and add any update to their address or other contact information. Contracts are returned to the Graduate Programs Office, gradprogram@massart.edu. For questions about course contracts, please contact the Graduate Programs Office at gradprogram@massart.edu.
PAYMENT
Faculty, program directors, mentors, thesis advisors and other contracted employees are paid through the Payroll office, on the 8th floor of the Tower building. Payment is made on a bi-weekly schedule. Payment for an Independent Study is made in one distribution at the end of the semester. The pay dates for mentors and thesis advisors will be posted on their contracts.
In order to be paid, employees must return a signed copy of the course or position contract, and complete all of the required onboarding paperwork described below, as per MA state and college requirements, prior to the start of the course.
For questions about a payment or about your contract, contact the Graduate Programs office at gradprogram@massart.edu.
PAYROLL ONBOARDING PAPERWORK AND ANNUAL CORI FORM
MassArt’s Human Resources office (HR) requests and processes onboarding paperwork for faculty and other contracted employees. The HR office is located on the 8th floor of the Tower building. If you have questions about onboarding paperwork, please contact Human Resources at 617-879-7908 or HR@Massart.edu.
MassArt uses the online Interview Exchange for payroll onboarding paperwork. Onboarding is requested via an email from “info@interviewexchange.com”, that is sent to one’s home email address. This paperwork should be completed prior to the start date of the course or work.
DOCUMENTS TO PRESENT AT HUMAN RESOURCES
MassArt’s HR office requires that employees bring identification documents to the Human Resources office from 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday (the office closes at noon in summer), for verification of the I-9 Form ID(s), and CORI Form (ID).

If you cannot visit the MassArt HR office to verify documents during usual business hours, you may have your documents verified in the following ways:
- I-9 Forms and ID(s) may be verified by an I-9 Reciprocal Processing Institution near where you live. Contact MassArt’s HR Office to let them know you cannot verifiy your documents at MassArt, and request the list of Reciprocal Processing Institutions (colleges/universities) in near your zip code area. Contact the institution of your choice to check on their open hours, and let MassArt HR know which office you plan to visit, so they may also make a courtesy call on your behalf. Email the verified documents to the MassArt HR office at HR@massart.edu or mail them to the address above.
- CORI forms and ID must be verified by a Notary Public who will stamp and sign the CORI form. Check with your bank as they often do free notarizations for those who have accounts with them. MassArt does not reimburse for the cost of a notarization. Send the notarized CORI form/ID verification to HR@massart.edu or mail them to the address above.

MASSART EMAIL ADDRESS AND NETID
A MassArt email address, NetID, and an initial password are provided to new faculty before the start of the term. Reset the email password on MassArt’s password management site, or call Tech Central for assistance.
To access MassArt email, log into gmail with your NetId@massart.edu, or use the MassArt Experience portal.
New faculty are asked to complete a New Faculty Appointment Request form by the departmental assistant or by the graduate team, so that their MassArt account may be created. MassArt’s IT department sends the NetID and password information to faculty via their home email address. If you have difficulty accessing your MassArt email please email helpdesk@massart.edu and include the grad team on the email, gradprogram@massart.edu, or call Tech Central at (617) 879-7888.
NetIDs, the name portion of a MassArt email address, are used to access technology services across campus including public computers, WiFi, printing, and MassArt Self-Service (rosters, attendance and grading).
MassArt email is the preferred method of email communication across campus. MassArt emails for adjunct faculty may be deactivated after the course ends (with a grace period), so adjunct faculty should save important documents or information outside of these accounts.
MASSART ID AND UPDATE STICKERS
IDs are issued by Public Safety, 2nd Floor, Tower Building. Once faculty have received their contract, they may have their graduate faculty ID made in Public Safety, where a photo is taken. Returning faculty should request an ID update sticker at Public Safety, each semester they teach.
ACCESS TO CAMPUS AND ROOMS / COVID PROTOCOLS
Access to campus is on Huntington Avenue, through the main entrance of the DMC building, the Kennedy building, or with your MassArt ID at the Tower buidling (Tower access is 7am-7pm). The community is asked to tap their MassArt ID at the security desk. The ID allows passage between buildings, as well as access to some classrooms. Some classrooms require key codes, which the graduate team will provide to faculty via MassArt email. Please review MassArt’s Community Health and Well Being page regarding COVID guidelines.
