DORAN GRADUATE GALLERY | PAST EXHIBITION
DRIFT
April 10 – April 21, 2023
MassArt’s Doran Graduate Gallery is pleased to present Drift, on view from April 10 – April 21, 2023. This student curated exhibition showcases work of currently enrolled MFA students across graduate programs, including 2D, 3D, Photo, and DMI. The show is curated by Natalie Brescia (MFA Photo ’24) and Darci Hanna (MFA 2D ’24).
This exhibition explores the multifaceted experiences of human drifting, whether physical, psychological, or creative. The pandemic disrupted our routines and, for some of us, changed our paths. Our attention skips from one crisis to another during the 24-hour news cycle. We go down internet rabbit holes and find ourselves drifting from topic to topic, cruising the information superhighway before we drift off to sleep. We get carried away in ideas and ideologies. Populations migrate from one place to another carried by political, economic, or social currents, shifting local demographics. We drift apart and lose touch with friends and family for various reasons–distance, disagreements, political schisms, circumstances out of our control, etc. The focus of our work evolves and changes over time, drifting into new territory. Do you catch our drift?
