Enter the realms of fantasy with award-winning illustrator Tony DiTerlizzi. Join Tony as he shares his creative process for his books, The Spiderwick Chronicles and guides you in creating your own fantastical creature.
Ages 16 and up.
Majors Registration Day is Tuesday October 23. All the Art Education advisors will be in South 109 from 9:00-12:00 and will see students according to the following schedule:
9:00-10:00 Seniors and super seniors
10:00-11:00 Juniors
11:00-12:00 Sophomores
You do not need an appointment. Just come at the appointed hour and sign in on your advisor’s sheet. You will be seen in order.

Project for School Innovation (PSI) will celebrate the publication of Portraying Identity Through Art – the fourth book in our ‘Wisdom of Educators" series – with a book launch & Art Exhibit on Monday, October 15 from 4:30 to 6:00 PM at The Harbor School, located at 11 Charles Street in Dorchester.
Portraying Identity Through Art is a source book developed by real classroom teachers featuring case studies from their experience, accompanied by practical, proven strategies for middle-grade visual arts instruction. In 2005-2006, five middle school visual arts teachers from Boston area public schools participated in PSI’s Support Network for Innovative Classrooms. The teachers met monthly to collaboratively review, research, and apply new methods of teaching students to express their identity through art. This book illuminates those methods, and illustrates how art can enhance students’ overall academic learning and knowledge of themselves.

Bringing Contemporary Art into your Curriculum
Saturday, October 13, 10 am – 1 pm
Through an annual Teacher Open House and workshops, the ICA offers K-12 teachers opportunities to broaden their knowledge and appreciation of contemporary art, while discovering ways to creatively engage students in arts learning that builds visual and critical thinking skills across disciplines. The ICA’s permanent collection and the Poss Family Mediatheque-a digital space where one can learn more about the artists, their work, and key concepts in contemporary art-serve as resources for teachers seeking to integrate art into their curricula.
