Studio Investigations Summer 2012

John Crowe’s  MAT class Studio Investigations had an informal show of work on August 7, at the end of their intensive three- week course, which John calls  summer camp and boot camp in one.

With the theme  “Drawing from within (+ life lines to art, academic, social, and teaching worlds),” the course started with speed dating art processes, using cheap and found materials. One assignment involved becoming bricoleurs and making pieces with materials that cost no more than one dollar (cheap dates).  Each student was literally given a dollar bill.  Over the first weekend students chose to go steady and do studio projects inspired by one of the speed dates. By the end of the whirlwind courtship (course), they got married to a project and finished it  for the final review.

The work was shown in the corridor,  in the studios, in the courtyard, and in a ceramics studio.  See the gallery.
