Project Proposal: Summer Eells

Concept/Subject:

Because I am someone who loves to be outside and with nature as much as possible, my goal for this project is to try and capture nature’s beauty in all different angles, time of day etc. I am always amazed at how different nature can look just with the time of day or the angle at which it’s looked at and I want to try and capture that in this project.

Technical Approach / Input:

For this project I plan on focusing on point of view, we pass so many beautiful things in nature on a day to day basis and most of the time we miss its beaty due to how busy we are living our lives. This is just to show that even simple things, for examples trees that we all see on a daily basis can be something more just by the change of angle or time of day it is looked at. I will be using medium or fast shutter speed to be able to capture nature in the moment.

Technical Approach / Output:

All of the images I shoot will be processed in color. My reasoning behind that is with the different times of day that I shoot in, the color will give the image more of a wow factor and it will show that some images do in fact have a different vibe when seen in a different light/angle. I do not plan on printing any of these images.

  1. Hi Summer!

I love your approach to this project. New England seems like such an ideal spot to capture your images in hundreds of ways with the changing seasons, weather patterns, and times of day. It’s so important to take the time to appreciate where we live, and the beauty of our every day lives. I appreciate that you will focus on celebrating some elements of nature that many of us take for granted on a daily basis, myself included. It feels extra powerful given our current season.

Looking forward to seeing your final work!

  2. Hi Summer,

I always appreciate focus on the everyday, it’s so great to get people to look and see things anew because you focused their attention on them. I hope you continue to emphasize your own unique perspective like you did with your two wonderful horse photos. The way you framed both of those made me linger on the images – which is really the goal isn’t it? I am looking forward to seeing what you produce for this project.

  3. Hello Summer,

I think your concept of appreciating the things we overlook in our fast-paced lives is very clever, especially during present time as more people begin to realize this. I think it would be an interesting addition to see you explore the differences in perspectives like that of an ant compared to a human to the top of a house viewing these places.

I’m so excited to see your work!
