Department Website to move to WordPress this Summer

The Art Education Department at MassArt has maintained an interactive rich portal for students and faculty since 2004. During that time, we have also encouraged each student to maintain an online web presence in the form of a website, blog or online portfolio. Recently, improvements to WordPress have made it an ideal platform to build student and department websites with. Since incoming students are required to maintain a weblog as part of their academic work, it makes sense to run the department website on the same platform. Moving forward, students will only need one account to access both sites.

Many of the student resources at MassArtEd can already be accessed right here. There is a list of all current blog users, too. (If you are not listed, respond with your blog address in the comments.)

We are no longer creating student accounts at the current MassArtEd (which is running on the Joomla Platform). Students can create accounts here using their NetID and massart.edu email address.

Saturday Studios already has its own sub-site.
Students will post their lessons and images there at the end of this semester.

The rest of MassArtEd will be converted this summer.

Seen around the Department: Julie Blauss

Julie Blauss, Art Education sophomore
and work/study student in the office,
wore her rabbit hat to work earlier this week.

Julie’s family raises rabbits, and in high school Julie belonged to the Rocking Rabbits 4H club. She says rabbits make great house pets. It’s tempting when you see these photos.

If there’s anything you want to know about rabbits, Julie’s the one to ask!
