KidsArts! is a 19-year-old independent non-profit rooted in the Jamaica Plain community. Their mission is to enrich the lives of children through out-of-school-time multicultural arts classes and activities. They work with elementary-school-age children. On a given day, they have about 30 children in their after-school program.
They are currently accepting interns for the ’13-’14 school year.
Length of Internships: 1 or 2 semesters. Internships shorter than one semester may be arranged.
Start/End Dates of Internships: Negotiable, they are flexible with students’ schedules.
Responsibilities of Interns: Assisting arts teachers with small arts classes (5-12 children) in a variety of art media (illustration, painting, creative reuse, dance, theater and music). Interns also assist with other activities, such as homework help, play time and snack. Interns may also lead elective arts activities during play time. Interns that work with KidsArts! for 3 months or longer may design and lead a class of their own.
Evaluation: The Program Director meets weekly with interns to evaluate internships and help interns work toward their goals.
