Call for Submission of Art Work by Art Education Students in Massachusetts

M.A.E.A. Juried Student Exhibit
 
April 28 – June 6, 2014
9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Mon.-Fri. (Closed Holidays & Weekends)
Massachusetts State Transportation Building, Boston
 
 • Junior, Senior and Graduate students currently majoring in Art Education at Massachusetts colleges and universities are invited to submit their 2-D and 3-D art work for the juried exhibit “Future Art Educators of Massachusetts.”   There is no fee for M.A.E.A./N.A.E.A. student members who want to submit work to this exhibit.  There is a $10.00 exhibit fee for non-members of M.A.E.A./N.A.E.A. The exhibit will be juried by members of the Massachusetts Art Education Association Board.
• Students may submit digital images of no fewer than two art works and no more than five art works.  Each work can be represented by up to four digital images.  The deadline to receive digital submissions is Friday, March 21, 2014.
 
• We will accept electronic submissions only. Please send digital images as attachments to an e-mail to:massartedassn@aol.com or mailed on a disk to M.A.E.A., PO Box 171297, Boston, MA  02117.
• Please prepare all images as JPEGs with the print dimension 5″ x 7″ or larger.  Image resolution must be 300 dpi.  JPEGs must be at or under 3 MB.
• In your e-mail or mail envelope, please include your name, home address, preferred e-mail address, preferred telephone, school name and town.  For each submission, please include title, size, and media.
• We will in most cases not be able to hang any 2-D or 3-D art work that exceeds four feet in any one direction or 20 lbs. in weight.  If your work exceeds the size or weight restrictions, please let us know and we can discuss exhibit options.  We cannot exhibit work that needs to be suspended from the ceiling.
• The M.A.E.A. will notify students of acceptance of art work for the exhibit by e-mail no later than Monday, April 4, 2014.
• Delivery of art work will be April 24 & 25, 2014 and pick up of art work will be June 8 & 9, 2014.  The exhibit fee for non-members will be due with delivered art work.  Other details will be included in the acceptance notification. All work will be delivered to and picked up at the exhibit site.There will be an Exhibit Reception for the participating artists and their guests on Friday, May 16, 2014.

• All 2-D art work accepted for exhibition must be in “ready-to-hang”.  All 3-D work must likewise be exhibition ready.  The M.A.E.A. maintains the right to not exhibit work which is inappropriate for the venue or not consistent with the originally submitted digital image.
All 2-D & 3-D wall work will hang by wire from hooks secured in the building’s exhibit wall channel.  We do not nail or screw into the exhibit walls.
All other 3-D work will be exhibited under 3’x3’ plastic cubes which sit on large dark wood pedestals.  Smaller work including jewelry will be exhibited in a locked glass display unit.  Large sculptures will be exhibited on individual open pedestals surrounded by exhibit ropes.
The exhibit space is a secure area of the Massachusetts State Transportation Building with 24 hours guards. M.A.E.A. will not be insuring the exhibit.  Individual artists should insure their own work if appropriate and deemed necessary.
