My work never intended itself to be fully explained. In fact, I like the bizarre, unknown, alien nature of it all. For me, our uncertainties are more valuable than our certainties. As human beings, it is our bodies that have limitations, and our artistic discoveries that are boundless.
By using mixed media to build ongoing dialogues, I arrange series of sculpture, photography, painting, and creative writing that allude to the idea of “the other”. Shells and natural materials are used in my work to act as metaphors, and introduce poetic meanings on unusual surroundings. Occasionally, this imagery introduces environments and objects that are foreign to one another. Creating an unusual harmony, these perspectives suggest unworldly qualities that nurture curiosity.
