MIDDLE SCHOOL INITIATIVE
VISUAL ARTS
and WOODWORKING

In addition, the Eliot School is piloting this year a program in both Visual Arts and Woodworking targeted to students in Grades 6–8. They are developing specific curriculum that includes hands-on learning, design and career exposure. For this initiative, they are specifically seeking teachers and aides interested in working with Middle School children, ages 10–13.|

Director Abigail Norman says,”We are seeking both teachers and aides for both visual arts and woodworking. Working as an aide for a while is a great way to learn the ropes and find out whether you like the work. We place teachers in their own classrooms who already have substantial experience solo teaching in urban public schools or similar environments. Those with less experience start as teachers’ aides. As aides gain experience, they may become full-fledged teachers. As teachers gain experience, we try to increase their assignments and hours as they become available.”
