Rachel Hunt

Rachel Hunt (BFA Studio Education/Fibers 2005) completed a MFA in Fibers at Cranbrook Academy in Michigan in May 2008.  Right after graduating she began a year-long Artist in Residence position at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Rachel had solo shows of her sculptural installations at Artworks! in New Bedford, Massachusetts January to March 2008 and at the Museum of New Art in Pontiac, Michigan in April 2008.    Starting from a background of  traditional fiber and textile processes, Rachel has moved into  installation, sculpture, and scientific drawing.   As part of a group of eleven artists, she will be exhibiting work in "Changing Cities/Moving Walls" in Bregenz, Austria; Berlin, Germany; and Beijing, China  November 2008 to January 2009.

Rachel’s work was also published in an article showcasing student work in the November/December 2007 issue of  Fiber Arts.  Her sculpture (Untitled, 2006; iron, nickel, assorted fabric, thread; sewn; 54" x 14" x 13") is on the cover of that issue.

Rachel returned to MassArt this week as a Visiting Artist in Fibers, and we were delighted to see her in Art Education as well.
