Gabriel’s horn

We merged like the lion and his king,

Like paint coming together,

Like life coming alive in spring.

Coals burning hot up against each other.

It’s summer time in this game of love.

Hot and heavy,

Heavy breathing by the stroke of midnight into sunrise,

By daylight we wake and bake to Erika Badu’s song about her green eyes.

Our spirits aligning alongside seaside shore lines,

Where we watch pebbles skip across oceans,

If they can do it,

So can we.

Rocks made to sink, skip gravity, and jump water.

From this day on, we held hands and took a leap,

Transferring energies back and forth,

Through one another.

Vibrating at a thousand,

I’m most positive we broke sound barriers,

I’m most positive we broke wall barriers,

I’m most positive we reached the highest and kept going.

And in all our days of love everlasting,

We hit the bottom too.

And back to a boy is how I found you.

Exhausting each other.

We had rainy days…

Where it drizzled and my tears fell hard into your shirt.

Days where it poured with no breaks

You threw your words at me like cups and bowls exploding into bits and  pieces

We’d always come together in the end.

When the storm raged outside your walls,

You would let me in and shake me down, until I couldn’t keep myself intact

With the rain crashing relentlessly up against your door.

Wading in my water until my breast hit your ceiling,

Then the four walls that caged us in,

cave to the ground,

And you can see lightning run across my eyes,

And hear thunder shatter the sky.

I scream out:

“I’m sorry”

…and you are too.

We had days like this often.

The rain would rain down until we were forgiven,

And we would watch the rain wash down side by side,

With our hands to the glass.

In the background played Majid Jordans

All waves of blue
