STUDIOS + FACILITIES

THURSDAY JULY 4, 2024 | CAMPUS CLOSED – NO ACCESS, INCLUDING PERSONAL STUDIOS

MFA Low-Residency students have personal studios located in either the Tower or Kennedy Building, depending on the materials and processes they use primarily in their practices. All studio spaces are assigned by the Director of Graduate Program Resources & Exhibitions, Felicia D Scott Flint <fdscott@massart.edu> and Grad Studios + Exhibitions Assistant Justin Guertin <jaguertin@massart.edu>

ACCESS/POLICIES

  • Access to personal studios is available during the 24-hour period, 7 days a week, with the exception of some holidays and school closures. You can remain on site during closed hours (11pm-7am), however you may not enter or re-enter campus buildings after 11pm, so please keep this in mind as you make your plans.

TOWER BUILDING | 4th FLOOR GRAD CENTER

  • Graduate students use their student ID cards to gain access to the studio floor. Students must visit the Public Safety office on the 2nd floor of our Tower Building to obtain their physical student IDs and Semester Stickers.
  • Tower studios are assigned to students who work primarily in fibers, small sculpture, watercolor, video/digital tools, etc. Tower studios have an enclosed HVAC system which prohibits the use of any solvents, sprays, mediums, or oils. If a student intends to work with any of those materials, they will be assigned a Kennedy studio space.

KENNEDY BUILDING

  • For Summer 2024, MFA-LR students are assigned to the Kennedy // ROOM TBD
  • Graduate students are assigned a personal 4-digit code to enter the studio rooms in Kennedy. Personal codes are obtained and assigned by the Grad Studios + Exhibitions Assistant, Justin Guertin <jaguertin@massart.edu>.
  • Kennedy studios are assigned to students who work primarily in 2D, and/or use solvents, oil paints, mediums, etc. that require special ventilation.

STUDIO USE AGREEMENT

All students who are assigned personal studio space are required to review and sign a Studio Use Agreement each summer. Studios are a privilege and must be treated with respect – the Director of Graduate Program Resources, or specific building studio managers can revoke studio privileges if any of the guidelines outlined in the agreement are disregarded. Any request for a studio switch must be sent and approved by the Director of Graduate Program Resources & Exhibitions, Felicia D Scott Flint <fdscott@massart.edu> or Grad Studios + Exhibitions Assistant Justin Guertin <jaguertin@massart.edu>.
