INFORMATION ON MENTORING

MENTORING STEPS

  1. Students complete the Declaration of Mentor Form after discussion with the Program Coordinator.
  2. Once the student has selected a mentor, the mentor completes the Mentor Information Form.
  3. When the mentor and student are paired, students complete, and send to their mentor the Studio Study Plan.
  4. At the mid-term, mentors submit the Mentor Mid-Term Evaluation.
    At least 2 of a minimum of 5 mentor meetings should have occurred prior to the mid-term.
  5. At the semester’s end, mentors submit the Mentor Final Evaluation.
  6. At the semester’s end, Students submit a Studio Reflection.
  7. Finally, the Program Director grades students for their mentor coursework.

  • March 24 – Mentor mid-term evaluation
  • March 28 – Mentor – Academic Warning email sent to Program Director

    Students submit this form after researching potential mentors and agreeing on a mentor with their Program Director.

    MENTOR INFORMATION FORM

    All Mentors, new and returning to mentor, complete this form. All mentors include contact information, a mailing address for our contract process and payment, a website address, and the last date of work (if any) at MassArt.

    Mentors returning within 2 years may submit the from without answering the text questions, and don’t need to upload a CV.

    MENTOR CONTRACT

    The Graduate Programs Office sends a mentor contract (MassArt appointment agreement) via email, after receiving the Mentor Information Form. Mentors return their signed contract to the Graduate Programs at gradprogram@massart.edu within 1 week of receiving it. Mentors are contracted as temporary MassArt employees for the duration of the mentorship, unless they already are full time MassArt employees.

      

    PAYROLL ONBOARDING FORMS

    Onboarding paperwork is completed online via MassArt’s Interview Exchange system. The Payroll or Human Resources office sends onboarding forms to mentors via email. Messages with form links arrive in mentors’ email accounts from “info@interviewexchange.com”.

    The CORI form is required once a year. Payroll sends a request to mentors who are required to complete the CORI.

    MENTOR MID-TERM EVALUATION

    Mentors submit this evaluation at the mid-point of the mentored semester, after at least 2 meetings.

    MENTOR – ACADEMIC WARNING

    Please email Program Director, Kelly Knight at kaknight@massart.edu, if you believe the student is underperforming, or you feel they may fail the course, so that an academic warning may be sent to the student.
