Cambridge Montessori School – Lower Elementary (Grades 1-3) Art Specialist

Cambridge Montessori School seeks a part time Art Specialist (10 hours per week) to instruct children age 6-9 years old in our Lower Elementary Program. Three or more years of teaching experience is desirable.

The schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 1-3pm (two 45 minute classes per day), with set up prior and clean up after classes. More hours available in the Spring as the school prepares for its Festival of the Arts (May 21, 2015).

We seek flexible, imaginative, creative teachers who can effectively plan and problem solve with a team. The ability to understand and willingness to work with a range of learning styles is required. We expect our faculty to be involved and active in the school community. Confident, professional demeanor and a sense of humor are important characteristics. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and others. Strong writing skills are a prerequisite. The candidate will support and collaborate with classroom teachers on special projects and thematic units of study. Above all, a strong respect for and love of children is essential to function effectively in this child-centered environment.

This position is for the academic year, September through June. Salary is based on experience and background.

TEACHING ASSISTANT

Summer Studios – 2D, 3D and Issues & Images

Strong leadership, management, organizational, and interpersonal skills are a must. High energy and flexibility are important for this position.

The Teaching/Administrative Assistant (T.A.) will report daily to the Program Manager. The T.A. works closely with their assigned faculty and the Supply Coordinator.

 

Overall program dates: July 20-August 15, 2015

2D class time: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30-11:20 (Set up and clean-up 30 minutes before and after class)

Issues and Images: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday,: 11:30-12:30; Wednesdays: 7/23. 30 and August 6: 1:30-4:30

3D: July 21-August 1: Monday. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 1:30-4:30; Wednesdays, July 23 & 30 : 8:30-12:30 (Set up and clean-up 30 minutes before and after class)

 

Orientation: Monday, July 20, 2015: 8:30 am

Reviews: Thursday August 13, 1:30-4:30

Final Friday: Friday, August 14, 2015, hang exhibition or assist with final day activities

Student Exhibition: Saturday, August 15, 2015, 11:00am -3:30pm

 

The Teaching/Administrative Assistant will have the following responsibilities:

  • Submit an updated resume and 2 references
  • Work in the classroom as a colleague and support system for faculty
  • Attend planning meetings prior to the program, 2 meetings during the program, and 1 final meeting at the conclusion of the program
  • Attend Curriculum planning meeting with 2D-3D-Issues and Images teachers
  • Attend the July 20 Orientation for students
  • Ensure classrooms are clean and work areas are in good condition
  • Assist in the distribution and collection of supplies
  • Assist in setting up the Student Exhibition during the final week of the program
  • Participate in activities on the final Friday (August 14) and attend the August 15 Student Exhibition
  • Assist in “wrap-up” of the program

All faculty, staff and teaching assistants must complete a CORI in order to work in youth programs at MassArt.
Hourly Rate: $15.00

Acton-Boxborough Regional High School in Acton, MA is looking for a full-time teacher with Massachusetts licensure to teach classes in Web Page Design, 3D Graphics, 2D Computer Animation, and possibly Graphic Design. Interpretive Media and Adult Education Coordinator at the ICA

Position Overview:
With strong skills in digital interpretive strategy and an understanding of contemporary art and its audiences, the Interpretive Media and Adult Education Coordinator creates and selects important educational resources for ICA audiences through diverse digital platforms. By using these digital platforms, the ICA is able to offer our audiences and visitors a variety of educational resources on our exhibits and programs that suit a diversity of learning styles. This position collaborates with artists and key ICA staff to produce high-quality digital presentations, and manages the digital content within the Poss Family Mediatheque and its related products – audio guides, artist and exhibition videos and exhibition features. He/she coordinates the ICA’s Gallery Talks program, which invites scholars, artists and authors to discuss works in our exhibits within the gallery space.

Qualifications:
BA degree in Studio Art, Art History, Museum Education or equivalent experience required. MA or graduate work in Studio Art, Art History, or Museum Education preferred. A minimum of 2 years professional work in a museum, gallery or equivalent setting. Knowledge of contemporary art and visual culture. Knowledge and background in developing exhibition-related, interpretive content. Experience working in a content management role. Understanding of innovative and effective learning initiatives. Familiarity with PC operating systems and hardware; Web 2.0 technologies and social media tools; Microsoft Office; Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign, and Acrobat; Mac based applications including iPod, iTunes, iPhoto, and GarageBand; Audacity. Familiarity with digital film and audio/video equipment. Interest in film development. Excellent organization, communication skills, research and writing skills. Ability to operate office equipment and general mobility throughout the building required. Full-time schedule is Monday- Friday 9am-5pm and events as required.
