The graduate students visited Ecuador July 1-12, for an immersive travel, art making and educational opportunity the Art Education department presents each summer. This year featured a special trip to the Galapagos Islands.

Sarah Gay Teaching Animation Workshop

filmstrip-sarahSarah Gay (MAT) will be teaching a workshop called  Pixilation Fixation Interactive Stop–Motion during the Young Filmakers Screening  at the Cyclorama at the BCA  Saturday, April 2nd from 6–7 pm

The Young Filmmakers Competition is a program for filmmakers ages 16–22.

Evelyn Berde at Allston Open Studios

Berde Open Studio detailEvelyn Berde, whose inspiring installation, Leaving the River, was presented in the Arnheim last November, will be hosting an Open Studio during the Allston Open Studios this weekend November 13 & 14th from noon to 6 pm.

There will be paintings and prints for sale, as well as refreshments.

Star Torrey

 

Star-and-FairiesOur own Star Torrey, a senior in Art Education, will be signing copies of her book Fairies in Dartmouth at the Rotch-Jones-Duff House and Garden Museum in New Bedford.

 Saturday October 16th • Fanciful Fairy Affair • 9:30 am

Join us for a morning Fairy Party with Jennifer “Star” Torrey author of the keepsake book “Fairies in Dartmouth.” This Fairy Party will include entertainment by Star and her fairies, face painting, making a “take home” fairy garden and the opportunity to purchase an autographed copy of the book. Fairy attire is encouraged! Adult and one child $10, additional children $5, reservations please.

Star began the fairy project in John Crowe’s Portfolio class last spring semester.  She made the fairy costumes for her young friends, choreographed fairy dances, and created the illustrations for the book, which she published on Blurb.com.
