Blaze: Discourse on Art, Women and Feminism

 There will be readings from the book, slide presentations, book signing and sales.

BLAZE: Discourse on Art, Women and Feminism is a new anthology that celebrates past victories and charts new directions for today’s second and third wave feminist artists. The book looks at how feminism has matured over the years and the pressing agendas for today’s feminists working in the arts.

Digital Media Study Seeks Participants

MyViews: Media Youth Views is a research study at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. We are studying how young people socialize, explore, and create using new digital media.

Who can Participate?
We are inviting young people (ages 18-25) to take part in our study. Participants should live in or near Boston and participate regularly in one or more of the following activities:

• Online games or virtual worlds (e.g., World of Warcraft, EVE Online, Runescape, Second Life, Gaia)
• Social networking sites (e.g., MySpace, Facebook, Xanga, Orkut, LinkedIn)
• Blogs (e.g., LiveJournal, Blogger) • Knowledge communities (e.g., Wikipedia, online forums)
 • Video, photo, art, or fan fiction sites (e.g., YouTube, deviantART, Flickr)

Chandra Ortiz in Choosing to Participate at BPL

Choosing to Participate / Facing History and Ourselves
Boston Public Library, Copley Square
January 20 – May 20, 2008

This interactive, multi-media exhibition encourages people of all ages to consider the consequences of their everyday choices and to make a difference in their own schools and communities.  Through key media sponsors and partnerships with leading corporate, civic, cultural, and educational organizations, Choosing to Participate seeks to engage the greater Boston community in a broad-ranging dialogue about how to build a stonger, more respectful society.  Facing History and Ourselves  expects over 10,000 middle and high school students to tour the exhibition during its showing at the Boston Public Library.

Lyssa Paluay's New Baby

Alexander Paluay Kelley was born January 12.

Lyssa Paluay, who teaches Portfolio in the Art Education Department as well as being a Studio Foundation faculty member, is on leave this semester.  She and Alexander are doing fine.
