The Healing Corridor

healing-sm_0007_Layer_4Naomi (Fletcher) Graham aka Nome (BFA, Community Education, 2003) recently lead a group that painted the new emergency entrance corridor for the Monadnock Community Hospital. Keeping in mind that the people entering the hospital this way are in distress and most likely lying on a stretcher, the artists designed the mural to soothe and relax. Nome worked with high school students designing the mural elements and painting the sea creatures that line the walls and ceiling. Elementary grade students were then invited to contribute their own original paintings along the lower walls. The overall effect is one of moving through a a watery dreamscape.

Jim Chisholm

Jim Chisholm (MSAE 1995) is now a full Professor of Art at North Shore Community College.

He will have six paintings and some poems in a group show “…As Lovely as a Tree” at Gallery Della-Piana in Wenham August 14 – October 9.  The opening is on Saturday, August 14th between 4 and 6 pm, with poetry readings at about 5.

Connie Thibaut (BFA 1997, MSAE 2003) stopped by the office recently.  She has been teaching in the Boston Public Schools for almost ten years and will be at the Hennigan School in Jamaica Plain this year.

Kate Jellinghaus

Kate Jellinghaus (TPP May 2010) will be teaching at Westwood High School.  Our MSAE alumna Lucy Grover will be a colleague.

Kate and Alisa Rodny, who will be teaching at the Jeremiah Burke High School in Dorchester, are hoping to collaborate to encourage dialogue between their student populations.

Anne Blackie

Anne Blackie (BFA 2010) has moved to California and is a full-time Activities Director for a retirement community outside of San Francisco. She will be working with school groups and arranging volunteers, teaching a few art classes, and organizing museum visits and games.
