Mardi Reed Workshops

 Mardi Reed (MSAE 1994) , artist and teacher, will be offering the following workshops in the spring and next fall:

 

Workshop in "Drawing Through Insight"
Saturday April 25th 10:00 to 4:00
Drawing skills are not necessary to explore personal marks.  Use drawing to develop insight and focus on life change.  Combine spontaneous drawing with writing words.  Begin to draw in a journal format.
Held at Mardi’s studio in Jamaica Plain.
$75 includes materials.

Walk and Draw with Mardi at Franklin Park
Saturday May 16th 9:30 to 12:30
Explore and draw nature and the ruins in historic Olmstead parklands. We will meet at the top of Green Street, Glen Hill Road Entrance.
$25  Bring sketchbook and drawing materials

 Monhegan Island Experience
October 6th and 7th 9:00 to 5:00
Walk and sketch in the morning and learn printing techniques each afternoon at the Curator Cottage Studio by the Sea.
Monhegan Island is 20 miles off the coast of Maine and has 15 miles of hiking trails.

The National Art Education Association Convention
is happening right now, April 17-21, in Minneapolis.

Dan Serig, Lois Hetland, and John Crowe are attending and presenting, along with many of our alums and art teachers from around the nation. 

More than 1,000 sessions,  workshops, and tours will be offered over the next five days.

Jose Santos

José L. Santos (MSAE 1999) is part of
Twice Removed: An exhibition of Portuguese-American Artists
at the Boston Public Library

from April 11, 2009 to June 27, 2009.

The opening reception is Thursday, April 16, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

in the Changing Exhibits Room of the library,
700 Boylston Street, Copley Square.

 

Part of the Portuguese Festival, the exhibit presents the work of seven contemporary Portugese-American artists from throughout the United States. The work includes a range of styles and subject matter –
vibrant sculptural wall reliefs, large and inviting landscapes on paper, digital narrative prints, metaphorical studies, commercial and pop-influenced works, and a sampling of more traditional paintings.
