Nathalie Miebach

Miebach20in20progress1Nathalie Miebach (MSAE 2002, MFA 2006) was selected to be a 2011 TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) fellow. She will join 19 other remarkable innovators and thinkers from around the world at the TED conference in Edinburgh, Scotland to share her work in structural weaving and music on the world stage.

Nathalie currently has a show of her woven sculptures at Fuller Craft Museum. Changing Waters is up January 15, 2011 to September 25, 2011.  Nathalie renders sculpture and music from meteorological data. 

She will also be teaching Sculptural Weaving at Art New England July 31-August 6.

Nathalie’s work is featured in the July/August 2011 issue of Fabric Paper Scissors.  She has just been written up in the New York Times as well.

Jim Hunt

Jim Hunt (BFA Art Education 1984) has a flourishing career as a cartoonist.  Read more.  You never know what a MassArt graduate will do!

Sara Connor's New Position

MAT student Sara Elizabeth Connor has recently been appointed the Interim Director of the OpArt Program in Newburyport, MA. OpArt is a partnership between the Newburyport Art Association and Opportunity Works that encourages and supports adults with a variety of developmental and physical disabilities to enrich their lives through the creative process.

OpArt will be having a Spring Show at the Carry Out Cafe in Newburyport throughout May and June 2011.

Congratulations to all our new graduates!  The ceremony took place in Evans Park on Friday May 20.  After a week of cool grayness, rain, fog, and drizzle, the sun actually came out for Commencement.  It was President Kay Sloan’s last Commencement.  Governor Michael Dukakis and Kitty Dukakis were presented with the Godine Medal for Service to the Community.  One MSAE, four MAT students and twenty-seven Art Education majors graduated.
