Adjunct Art Education Faculty Position for 2013

Montserrat College of Art is currently welcoming applications for an adjunct position to teach one course beginning in the spring of 2013.  Methods: Media, Forms and Ideas in Art Education is a studio course required for students who are planning to complete the requirements of our Art Education program, leading to the Massachusetts Initial License. These required courses are taken alongside their BFA concentration.

Methods: Media, Forms and Ideas in Art Education provides students with the opportunity to work with materials often used in K-12 classrooms and community-arts settings.  It includes 15 hours of fieldwork (classroom observations) and introduction to lesson plan design.

The successful candidate will work closely with the program Chair to meet the goals of the course and the program standards.

Requirements for applicants:
MFA, MA Art Education, M.Ed. or MAT with prior specialization in Visual Arts or equivalent graduate degree; prior teaching experience at K-12 or higher education levels; strong oral and written communication skills.

Preference will be given to candidates who have a solid knowledge of:

Massachusetts Standards for Teachers; Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Frameworks; Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure; Teacher Preparation Responsibilities; Universal Design for Learning.
