Teach Film Accepted for Boston International Film Festival

The Boston International Film Festival has accepted the documentary film Teach: Teachers are Talking, Is the Nation Listening  to be screened at this year’s film festival. The film festival will be held from April 13th through April 22th at the Loews Cineplex / AMC, here in Boston, Massachusetts. Teach will be screened on Patriots Day April 16 at 1 p.m

The makers of Teach are teachers in the Boston Public Schools.  Robert Lamothe, director, producer, videographer, and editor,  was inspired to make this documentary because of the conditions he observed and experienced as a public school teacher. Our alumna Yvonne Lamothe (TPP 1989) has taught art in the Boston Public Schools for 23 years. She received National Board certification in 2000. She has contributed to the making of Teach in many capacities. Advising, directing, carrying and set up of equipment, set design, writing an original children’s song for the movie, and patience have been among her responsibilities. The importance of setting the record straight about the real work teachers do and the need for equity and respect for all children in their learning and in their lives has motivated her interest in the development of Teach.

The Boston International Film Festival shows 90 films from over 30 countries.  A celebration of the art of film making,  it encourages and supports independent filmmakers from around the world, bringing to Boston a dazzling array of both short and feature length films from a select group of directors. The festival strives to promote understanding of diverse cultures by displaying the passions and unique vision of these filmmakers, and promises to both entertain and educate the viewers.
