Take a Pilot MTEL Test

YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN AN OPEN SESSION PILOT TEST AT THE MTEL TEST ADMINISTRATION ON NOVEMBER 21, 2009.

WHAT TESTS WILL BE OFFERED AT THE PILOT TEST?
The following test fields will be available: Communication and Literacy Skills, Business, English as a Second Language, Health/Family & Consumer Sciences ,  Latin & Classical Humanities,  Physical Education , Visual Art

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATING?

FOR EACH 1 1/2 HOUR PILOT TEST FORM COMPLETED, PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE A $35 VOUCHER TO USE FOR A FUTURE MTEL REGISTRATION, OR $30 IN BARNES & NOBLE GIFT CARDS. Participants will also acquire valuable practice in taking the MTEL and will have the opportunity to gauge their knowledge and skills. As one student said regarding her pilot test experience: “…thank you to you and your staff for bringing the Pilot MTEL (to my school)…It was really beneficial for me to have a practice go at the test since I’m taking the actual MTEL….”

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Those eligible to participate in the pilot test include candidates who will be seeking a Massachusetts license and would be required to take any of the tests listed above.

ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES DO NOT HAVE TO BE REGISTERED FOR THE MTEL ON NOVEMBER 21 TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PILOT TEST!

WHERE WILL THE PILOT TEST BE HELD?
Pilot testing will be available at the following locations. Arlington High School Lynn English High School Norton High School Burncoat High School Drury High School Somerville High School Quincy High School Billerica Memorial High School Braintree High School Agawam High School Dartmouth High School

WHEN CAN I TAKE A PILOT TEST?
Candidates registered to take an MTEL on November 21 can participate in the pilot test before or after their assigned test sessions, any time between 10:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. Candidates not registered to take an MTEL on November 21 can arrive at the test administration site for the pilot test any time between from 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M.

HOW LONG WILL THE PILOT TEST TAKE?
Each pilot test form (consisting of multiple-choice and open-response assignments) takes approximately 1 1/2 hours to complete. Participants may complete up to three pilot test forms.

HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE PILOT TEST?
Candidates who are registered to take the MTEL on November 21 can go to the pilot test session at their scheduled test site. To participate in the pilot test, they should go to the room designated at the test site for this purpose (signs will be posted and room locations will be available at the information table). Candidates who are not registered to take the MTEL on November 21, but want to participate in the pilot test, can go to any of the locations listed above, and proceed to the room designated at the test site for this purpose (signs will be posted and room locations will be available at the information table). Candidates who are not registered for the MTEL on November 21 MUST BRING THIS EMAIL AND A VALID PHOTO ID (DRIVER’S LICENSE OR COLLEGE ID) FOR ADMITTANCE INTO THE PILOT TEST.

NOTE: Because information from the pilot test will be used only to evaluate the test questions, score information will not be provided to participants or institutions. Pilot test results will be analyzed as group data only and will be kept confidential.
