Kit Jenkins and Mary Flannery, art therapists and founders of Raw Art, a non-profit youth arts oganization in Lynn, were honored at Commencement 2008 as MassArt’s Distinguished Educators of the Year.

Raw Art uses the arts to nurture the untapped creativity of "youth in the struggle."  They gain tools to embrace their innate capacity to create and ignite their own power to change their life.

Community Education major Alison Miller and Art Education alum Chrissy Jackson, both Raw Art alums, have work in the exhibition.

"I have been spending the past 22 years of my life witnessing my young artists go to the thin end of the limb, trying new things….

In all these years I have asked hundreds of kids to step up and have the courage to let folks take a peek into who they really are, by making art that is both passionate and personal…. Now it is my turn.  I have a newfound appreciation for what I have asked of them."
