If you check your MassArt email regularily, you have probably already seen this information. Otherwise please read this important announcement and make sure MassArt knows where to reach you in an emergency. All matriculating students should already have MassArt emails set-up for them. If you have not activated your email, please do. You will receive important campus announcements and events information there. You also need it to access the library reserves and databases.
IMPORTANT MassArt Emergency Notification Message!
The safety of our students, staff, and faculty is central to our planning for any emergency. Since the spring of 2007, MassArt has worked to update its emergency plans, which are available on its emergency website, http://emergency.massart.edu . This is an ongoing process that will be reviewed continually to make sure it meets the needs of our campus community.
It is crucial that we have the ability to communicate emergency information to you quickly and accurately. To facilitate this, MassArt has worked with the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education to identify an emergency notification system vendor and is now working with the selected vendor to bring that capability to MassArt. The system has been installed and we are currently in the process of building it out to meet MassArt’s specific communications needs. Once the system has been tested and fine-tuned it will strengthen our communications, allowing us to reach you with text messages to cell phones and voice messages to your cell and home phones, in addition to your MassArt email. It’s imperative that all MassArt community members use their college email in order to receive important emergency information. If you do not have a MassArt email or are unsure of how to access it, visit the Help Desk on the eighth floor of the Tower Building, Rm. 809, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm for assistance or visit http://inside.massart.edu/newmail and follow the prompts.
In order to make sure we have accurate, updated information and to expedite the emergency notification system implementation process, we have set up an online portal so you may choose how you want to be reached in the event of an emergency. Please take a moment to click on the following link to visit https://massart.ecoporte.com/emergency/jsp/home/home.jsp and enter the contact information you would like us to use to reach you in the event of a campus emergency. A tutorial has been attached to this e-mail for additional reference on how to enter your contact information. Once you’ve entered your information, it is saved automatically in our notification system. The online portal is a secure site, which ensures that your information remains confidential. This is the most effective way for you to make sure your information is accurate and up-to-date so you may be notified during an emergency. After entering your information, you’ll be notified of emergencies by the methods you choose for notification.
