Speaking of podcasts, I love The Lonely Palette podcast hosted by Tamar Avishai. She’s a nerdy, quirky art historian based in Boston. Each episode is a deep dive into a different art piece. I highly recommend it.

Hey Jake, Thanks for the suggestion for The Lonely Palette! Not sure how you discovered Tamara, but I started listening and she does a really nice job at involving museum goers and people in general on how to engage in art (viewing, experiencing, researching and most importantly, talking about art), while she explains each work, the artist, possible purposes, historical context, and how it relates to us today! I’ve subscribed and am up to episode 11; yes, started form the episode 0! Definitely worth the listen! Thanks!
Great suggestion for the podcasts! I had a full day in the studio (7:00am – 4:25 pm only breaking for lunch) solely photographing my installation. I let it play from one to the next to the next. Ended up listening to all six of the Recording Artists: Radical Women series by The Getty! I had not heard of Alice Neel or Betye Saar prior to this.. Krasner, Frankenthaler, Ono and Hesse were familiar, but the interviews and background narratives give me new insights to these amazing contemporary women artists! Definitely going to look up their work and play again. Thanks!
Also, on my hour + car rides to family visits this week, I listened to some of the other podcasts on SoundCloud. Very cool and new to me! So much better than listening to splotchy noise spewing from my radio. Literally, my antenna receives no signals unless in close range 🙁 All good tho, now that I can listen to other discussions! Enjoy!
