SUR MODERNO

Although I haven’t seen this show yet… it is one that I am very much looking forward to. The Neo- Concrete movement is one that I find to be quite fascinating. If you are in NYC and visit the newly expanded and renovated MoMA, make sure not to miss this show. I’ll be going in early January!!

If the show looks of interest, here is some addition information….

Brazilian Concretismo (early 1950s, São Paulo)

Waldemar Cordeiro (my fave, especially the Visible Ideas [Idéia Visíviel] series)

Luiz Sacilotto

Lothar Charoux

Brazilian Neoconcretismo (late 1950s, mostly Rio-based, sought a more lyrical approach to geometric abstraction)

Ivan Serpa

Sergio Camargo

Lygia Pape

Lygia Clark

Hélio Oiticica

Argentine Grupo Madí

Rhod Rothfuss

Arden Quin

Other Argentines to note (and I think more interesting than Madí)

Tomás Maldonado

Lydi Prati

Others
