National LGBT Health Education Center
Transgender 101 and Trans Bodies, Trans Selves provides a good overview. The Sylvia Rivera Law Project also has a good page on “Trans 101” issues. For first hand accounts, “Redefining Realness” is a very approachable book that addresses a lot of the barriers and problems trans people face. For more college age accounts, see “Beyond Magenta: Transgender Teens Speak Out” and the documentary series, TransGeneration, which is specifically about trans students.
