• TherapyTherapy is beneficial for individuals with chronic illnesses because it provides a safe space to share your illness story and discuss the emotional experience of illness. Through therapy, we can help you talk-out what it’s like to have an illness and be on a college campus, with the medical and academic demands on your plate. Also, for a young adult with a chronic illness, it might be difficult to wrestle with how the illness fits into your identity. We can help you explore what the illness means to you.
  • Meeting Others: The Counseling and Wellness Center can help coordinate meet-ups and support groups for students with chronic illnesses so that you can talk to others about what it’s like to balance college life and your treatment routine. We want you to find friends who can share in your experience and provide you with support. Contact us if you are interested in meeting others or participating in a group.
  • Adherence Support: The Counseling and Wellness Center can also help you keep up with your treatment routine. If you notice that you’re having a hard time keeping track of your medication or making it to your doctor’s appointments, we can help you create a plan for these health behaviors. It can be difficult to juggle it all and sometimes it helps to create a plan to stay organized. Contact us if you’d like more support with your treatment routine.
  • Navigation SupportNavigating a new healthcare world can be intimidating for students who do not have a medical team in Boston. If you need to make an appointment or have one approaching, we can help you with barriers and fears. It might be scary to approach a new hospital or doctor’s office. We’d be happy to help make it a little easier.
