Spring 2021 Independent Study – Tree Form

This tree is one of the many trees I will have in my habitat. This particular tree form had two chalices, but unfortunately, one of them broke. There will be two chalices. It is made of found logs and branches carved out with a chainsaw, sawzall, and an angle grinder with a coarse disk sanding attachment. All of the trees will be charred black, the soot will be rubbed off with an abrasive pad and wire brushes. Multiple-colored pigments will be applied. In the chalice part, some of them will have various plants growing, and others will hold glass crystals. Some of the tree forms will have steel branches with copper twigs and brass leaves. You are able to see the various arrangements I am experimenting with on my Spring 2021 Independent Study – Drawings page.
