Too Beautiful

I think about my teeth a lot,

meandering their way along my gums.

Press my tongue firm against their backs.

Straighten up, I don’t have the time

to love every part of me. I don’t watch

what I eat or say

except when someone is looking

with their mouths. They catch the twinkle

on my snaggletooth, eat me

up, whistle at/damn girl at/ harass me please,

Christen the places that shimmy

against my will. Make me a street corner

saint, blushing and eye rolling, like the girls

who always have a middle finger ready to aim.

Make my body a game to play, a thing to win,

so I can know I am too, beautiful.

Boys Boys Boys

Boys will be

Breadwinning cowboys

Gun slung denim dudes

Grappling grabbing

Mine Mine Mine!

Off into the sunset

Boys will be

Knights in nightmares

Sword wielding and

Unyielding brothers of

Boldness (body)

Take me eventually

Boys will be

Held up to the light

Crisp Benjamins and Brads

Judged red/white/blue veins

How obliged, he even thought

To holster his guns
