ONE TO ONE

I punched 231
holes for 231
lengths of blue nylon cord
to go through.
The lengths of the cord end
cut and frayed, extending
out from them white
inner string that shoots
out like electrical wire.
The lengths of cord weave
into the holes in
the black rubber
and are knotted on
the other side
– a centipede
with a tenuous, curving spine. A split
black & blue bug. Something that’s been gutted,
obliterated to stringy parts.
One to one.
The blue on the one side
is uniform except for one string of darker blue.
An individual.
Stealth.
Butterfly kiss.
Theatrics.
An owl wing, spans and spreads.
You can see the division
between each feather.
A stringy pelt.
An animal exploded.
