Then or Now or Somewhere In-Between
Throughout all of my work, a common thread of introspection unifies each of the scenes that I depict within my studio space. Even the titles, taken from excerpts of my own poetry, refer to emotionally-tied experiences. Mired in ambiguity, these titles suggest connections to others or a connection to self that may or may not be visible to viewers engaging with the work. By rethinking prior conceptions of time and wallowing around in the uncertainty, I have arrived upon a non-linear way to communicate my personal history. Continuously returning to the significance of the process itself, I rely upon an ever-evolving collection of objects to find my course. These objects, as my inanimate studio companions, exist as both vestiges of previous memories and experiences, and as witnesses to the unfolding practice of an artist at work.
