Details, Progress and Outtakes

‘Behind the scene’ images below offer a glimpse of the progress, struggles, revisions and improvements.  Most artworks were completed as planned but no matter how well a composition is formulated, many factors affect and sometimes alter the course of the production.  Colour  schemes, scale, etc… all attribute to the decision of certain changes.

In #1 “The Bath”, the background resulted in a more abstract style.

Similarly, in #6 “The Goodbye Girl”, the woman was erased off and the brown bed headboard became blue.

In #13 & 14,  “Morning Light”  it was changed several times, with the chairs moved farther apart and the painting on the back wall became larger then smaller in the end.  A large canvas that emphasizes on emptiness and space, it takes up the whole wall of a corner of our kitchen, initially I planned for a larger chandelier but settled on 3 separated lights instead.

#15 & 16 “Garden Talk” I decided to include an animal in this thematic series about humanity.  Our grandson had a cat which recently had to be put down from an incurable condition.  Although it was not the most friendly animal perhaps his illness was the cause for its irritable personality.  We all loved that cat.  It became part of my theory of the chance connections and forced disconnections.
