Fall 2019

Seasons and Bird in Flight

Seasons 2019, collaged images of daily walks to Thorndike Field in Arlington, MA.

These images were taken on an iphone camera, then altered and collaged in Photoshop. Then they were printed on Canon paper at 24″ x 48.” Hung on the gallery wall, they create  an enclosed environment while also offering a large window onto the natural world.

Bird in Flight, part 1

For Bird in Flight, I created the 1,600 feathers of a house finch, an invasive species of bird that lives in the scrub at Thorndike Field, Arlington. I researched all the different feathers of the bird and their functions. The feathers are chased and cut out of aluminum tooling foil. Each feather is strung on waxed crochet string and suspended to its exact placement on the board. Each feather is roughly to size on a 10:1 scale.
