Paper

Plant materials were grown, harvested, and processed in my garden. Work began in the summer months when I built and filled raised beds using the hugelkultur method. Larger logs and branches were gathered from the yard, leaves and grass clippings were then tucked between them and soaked thoroughly before being covered with fresh soil and compost. The larger logs and branches will continue to decompose for years providing nutrients to the plants in these beds.

After an abundant harvest plant materials were gathered and processed.

Drying pea pods – peas were collected to plant next spring and the pods were processed into pulp.

Dried blackberry leaves were burned and the ashes were used as the alkali in the paper-making process.
