MassArt Choir

Welcome!

You’ve found the MassArt Choir website complete with syllabus, sheet music, audio-visual resources, music theory lessons, and a forum!

If you are interested in joining us for the Spring 2013 semester please contact either Choir Director Amber Vistein (amber.vistein@gmail.com) or Artistic Director Elaine Buckholtz (elaine.buckholtz@massart.edu).

The Choir is open to any student in any department. “Choir” provides opportunities for students to develop their musical potential and aesthetic understanding through singing in a choral ensemble. Study includes the care and cultivation of tone, aesthetic awareness, the ability to read music, the building of technical skills, collaboration, and responsible rehearsal habits. Students will have opportunities to experience the spontaneity of improvisation and the creative process of composition. Students will engage is exercises that strengthen listening skills and their ability to analyze and evaluate music and music performances. Additionally, we will emphasize experimental and innovative ways to redefine traditional boundaries in this discipline by working with experimental composers, multi-media forms, visual content, and re-interpretations of musical standards. The Mass Art Choir will also perform live throughout the semester.
